It all started in the 1890s when Auguste Flaujac married Noémi Delluc. The couple starts cultivating vines on a small mixed-farming property. The generations followed one another, first with Gustave their son in 1920 followed by Gaston their grandson in 1955. At the time, the vineyard was only 5 hectares. Gaston then began to expand the operation by buying a few plots of vines from the neighboring estates. In 1965, Jean-Paul, Gaston's eldest son, settled down and in turn endeavored to perpetuate and expand the property. It was in 1974 that Jean-Michel, Gaston's second son, supported by his wife Marie-Claude, returned to work on the property. It was under their influence that the vineyard, which until then only spread over 17 hectares, took off.
In 1981, Gaston, Jean-Paul and Jean-Michel founded the GAEC de Freybernat. They further extended the estate, which reached 48 hectares in 1997. The same year, Christophe, the eldest son of Jean-Michel and Marie-Claude, joined the team. His brother, David, followed his lead in 2001. The two brothers, with their higher viticulture diplomas in hand, were able to breathe new life into the estate. Today, Christophe and David are both managers of Vignobles FLAUJAC. The property now spreads over 100 hectares in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux. The priority is always the quality of the product but with a renewed sensitivity for the respect of the environment. The Faujac Vineyards thus obtained their Organic Agriculture Certification in 2004 and the HVE (High Environmental Value) certification in 2015.
2020 marks a new turning point with the start of the vineyard’s conversion to full on organic farming.
